Doing our part to reduce CO2 Emissions
As envionmental issues and a changing climate become more serious, the world must balance economic activities with sustainable, conscious solutions. How can we reduce our environmental impact to realize a more eco-friendly society? While Fujfiilm pursues energy efficiency and introduces renewable energy in the lifecycle of our products, many of our products and services themselves play a role in sustainability.
For example, our magnetic tape technology provides safe, long-term storage for today's ever-growing volume of digital data. Storing petabytes of data in data centers consumes energy and generates CO2 emissions on a huge - and growing - scale. Fujifilm has developed long-life, high-capacity magnetic tapes that back up enormous amounts of data yet don't require a constant power supply, which can help achieve significant reduction in CO2 emissions from data centers.

The latest LTO Ultrium 8 data cartridge delivers 12TB capacity.
Linear Tape Open, LTO, the LTO logo, Ultrium and the Ultrium logo are registered trademarks of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM and Quantum in the US and other countries.

THE FUTURE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
SENSOR FILMS FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE TOUCH PANELS
Display Materials
Adapting the technologies we perfected for photo imaging, Fujifilm provides "highly-functoinal films" used in a wide range of liquid crystal displays, including LCD televisions and smartphones.
Polarizing plates are essential to allowing light to pass through the liquid crystals in LCD displays, and Fujifilm is one of only a few companies with the advanced technolgy required to manufacture a cellulose triacetate film - Fujitac - that protects these vital polarizing plates,
In the 1990s, Fujifilm developed Wide View (WV) film, now widely used in LCD displays and computer monitors. WV film nearly doubles the screen's viewing angle, letting users see clear, beautiful pictures even when viewed diagonally.
We have also developed EXCLEAR touch panel sensor film, which uses silver halide photographic technology. Compared to traditional indium tin oxide (ITO) film, EXCLEAR properties enable quick response time (even on large-sized panels) and three-dimensional processing, while resisting folding or bending.

ENSURING THE SAFETY OF OUR BUILT ENVIRONMENT
SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE IMAGE ANALYSIS SERVICE
Social Infrastructure Image Analysis Service
Fujifilm's image analysis technology uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help engineers detect cracks in vital infrastructure like bridges, tunnels and buildings. These structures age over time, and frequent visual inspections are required by national and local governments to ensure public safety. Traditionally, these inspections have required advanced technologies and highly-experienced and skilled engineers to inspect each structure by eye, and identify each crack by chalking a line beside it. Next, they would sketch each crack or fissure, trace the entire image, and finally make digital images to include in reports.
With a virtually unlimited number of sites to inspect, and less time to inspect them, making the process efficient has become a priority issue.
Fujifilm has applied our medical image analysis technology that detects blood vessels in images to the process of detecting and visualizing cracks in structures. We've traveled to inspection sites, listened to the views of inspectors and construction consultants, and collected an enormous amount of images and data about cracks. Through machine learning, we've continued developing and evolving the technologies that create a safer world.

BETTER COMMUNICATION THROUGH HIGH-QUALITY PRINTING
GRAPHIC SYSTEMS
Graphic Systems
In the printing industry, long run jobs on offset presses used to be the dominant technology, especially in commercial and newspaper printing. As printing technology has changed, and as information and personal tastes have become ever more diversified and personalized, the demand for short run digital printing has grown.
Fujifilm's digital printing presses are capable of producing the same high quality and faithful color reproduction as offset presses. Our technology for uniformly applying a photosensitve layer to photographic film has led to a high-speed, high-precision inkjet printhead that can eject up to five billion ink particles per second. The result is a wide range of color expression and smoother gradations that were previously impossible to reproduce with digital printing.
In addition to offset printing, we will continue to provide inkjet solutions through a wide range of products and technologies.
Our mission is to support the creation of diverse content that moves hearts, changes minds, and inspires people. From everyday printed materials to valuable cultural, historical and cultural content, Fujifilm's technologies will play an indispensible role.

Today, these lenses have been adopted by broadcasting companies, live transmission specialists and film production studios. Not only did the UA series set the standard for resolution, it unleashed a tidal wave of stunning, high-definition 4k content.
Now, we've succeeded in developing 8k broadcasting lenses to meet the demand for even higher quality images that content creators demand. With 8k, the industry agrees... the future of broadcasting is crystal clear. We will NEVER STOP providing the world with even higher resolution and higher definition images.

MAINTAINING
CONSISTENT TASTE
OF DRAUGHT BEER
YEAST FILTERS
Microfilters for Beer
Fujifilm has also adapted photo and film technology to create porous yeast filters with holes one-millionth of an inch in diameter. This technology is helping brewers filter more yeast and bacteria... and deliver tastier, high-quality beers.
Better filters make better beer.
Photographic film technologies have always been at the core of our business, and Fujifilm has applied them to a wide range of uses. It shouldn't be a surprise that brewing better beer is yet another example. The microscopic holes in photo film work very well to create filters for yeast. Previously, yeast had to be heat-treated to maintain a brew's quality. But using micro-filters guarantees the complete removal of yeast and bacteria from the beer without the need for heat treatment. This hasn't only helped make draft-quality beer available in cans and bottles, but also helped home brewers enjoy tasty craft beers.
Of course we didn't stop there. This technology, which has the ability to filter the smallest of particles, is being used in various industrial applications such as chemical filtration for plating solutions, and for filtering foreign bodies out of the water used in critical cleaning processes, such as for LCD displays and hard disk drives.
We will NEVER STOP evolving our core technologies to make the world a better place.
